Sat, May. 28
On Saturday, May 28th the ELCAA and Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) hosted the 19th Bilingual monthly Amharic Story Time at Silver Spring Library. We had a fantastic time with everyone. For the younger kids (ages 3-9) this month’s readings consisted of ““Maraki Teretoch Part 1 and 2 ”by Gail by Gail Ascari, read by Mama Kebebush Tesfaye & Eileen Fishervalentine, the Silver Spring children librarian. Between the book reading, the kids watched a short YouTube videos of popular Ethiopian nursery rhymes. The kids caught on quickly and then began to sing and dance along with it. Finally, the kids had a fun coloring activities.
We thank all the parents and children who came to join us and hope that you, and even some newcomers, can all join us again at our next event and activity. We have posted the pictures and video of the event activities on Facebook and Picasa web album.

Finally, the kids had a fun coloring activities.

On Saturday, February 20th the ELCAA and Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) hosted the 15th Bilingual monthly Amharic Story Time at Silver Spring Library. We had a fantastic time with everyone.
For the younger kids (ages 3-9) this month’s readings consisted of ““የኤዞፕተረቶችክፍል2 (Aesop Stories Part 2)”by Wondwesen Tamrat read by Emama Kebebush & Christine Conway, the Silver Spring children librarian. Between the book reading, the kids watched a short YouTube videos of popular Ethiopian nursery rhymes. The kids caught on quickly and then began to sing and dance along with it. Finally, the kids had a fun coloring activities.
The older kids (ages 10-13) read “የሙናዝንጆሮ(Muna’s Monkey)” by Michael Ambatchew and played a fun and educational Jeopardy game about Ethiopia. The kids were divided into 2 groups, “ to compete and answer the various questions. Even some of the parents got involved into the excitement. On Saturday, December 12th, the ELCAA and Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) hosted the 14th Bilingual monthly Amharic Story Time at the New Silver Spring Library. We had a fantastic time with everyone.
For the younger kids (ages 3-7) this month’s readings consisted of ““የኤዞፕ ተረቶች ክፍል 1 (Aesop Stories Part 1)” by Wondwesen Tamratby Wondwesen Tamrat will be read by Emama Kebebush & Eileen F. Valentine, the Silver Spring children librarian. Between and after the book reading, the kids watched a short YouTube video of popular Ethiopian nursery rhymes.
